For Healthy Pregnancy and Childbirth

[April 1, 2010]

Receive regular maternity checkups

  • Once you confirm your pregnancy, consult a medical facility.
  • You should pay extra attention to your health during pregnancy.
  • Receive a monthly checkup (more than twice after the 24th week, and weekly after the 36th week) at a medical facility.

What do they examine at maternity checkups?

  • They check your weight, blood, blood pressure, urine, etc. to ensure well-being of the expectant mother and the baby.
  • Diseases such as anemia, pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, etc. could harm the baby's growth as well as mother's health.
  • Maternity checkups enable early detection and treatment of diseases.

Receive health guidance from professionals!

  • Once you confirm your pregnancy, report to the Health Promotion Dept. of Uji City at your earliest convenience.
  • A maternity health-record book and a maternity checkup medical card for checkups on public assistance will be issued at the counter. We also provide counseling by public health nurses, information on motherhood/parenting classes, and other information.
  • Feel free to consult with midwives regarding other pregnancy/childbirth concerns
